India Hicks is probably the sole person who has a plethora of Diana stories to share. She served as Diana’s bridesmaid when she was only 12 years old. “Princess Diana had an incredible sense of fashion,” she recalls. The royal nuptial shares that she was 12 years old when she served as Prince Charles and Lady Diana’s maid back in July 1981.
“As Diana’s bridesmaid and tomboy, I have multiple Diana stories that may sound bizarre to many. But for me, those are just normal days with the royalty,” she affirms.
Diana Asked Hicks to Wear a Voluptuous Dress
India Hick, now 55, recalls that lady Diana asked her to wear what she describes as “a voluptuous dress.” She asserts, “It is the trend and fashion of that era, and the Princess had the most incredible sense of fashion.” Hicks goes on to say that she was “perturbed and alarmed by listening to Diana’s offer.”
“As everyone could possibly be, I was hesitant and delighted at the same time,” she recalls. Furthermore, she concludes that amid the complexity and ecstasy of the situation, she accepted the offer and wore the proposed voluptuous dress. Following that. Princess Diana complimented her attire as “classic and voluptuous.”
However, Hicks describes herself as a tomboy and someone who loves boyish activities. “I am at ease in noisy and proactive activities,” she confesses. “But as a bridesmaid, you would never expect such bizarre offers from your lady. And from royalty like Princess Diana, never.” India Hicks affirms.
Dina’s Bridesmaid Was A Bride Herself Recently
Adding to the story of the 80s, India Hicks herself became a bride this year. She tied the knot with David Flint Wood after 26 years of staying in a relationship with him. The couple already have 5 children as they celebrate their marriage ceremony.
The marriage drew controversial backlash and a series of questions on why she had to prolong the marriage for so long. Nonetheless, the former Diana’s bridesmaid considered remaining silent on the questions.
However, what she did not remain silent about was her love affair with David, 26 years back. She recalls that they met at a charity work and exchanged “some words of love.” Years later, Hicks found David in the Bahamas running a hotel.
In her own words, her response to David’s proposal for marriage was “no, thank you!” However, she goes on to say that she thought she was an independent woman who had no need of getting married. “In my mind, I continued to think so for the last 26 years,” she says with a mouthful of a smile.
Nonetheless, she said “no” to her long-lasting mindset of staying single and tied the knot with David. “I am glad that I made the decision. Late but the right decision.” She concludes.
